Spent an enjoyable few hours Sunday morning with local guide John Quinlan who took us for a spot of bass fishing off the rocks and in the surf in St Finnans Bay. Not ideal conditions with relatively flat water and a very stiff Northerly breeze.
A few knocks but only a single bass caught on a sand eel lure by Johnnie. It was his first bass and gave him an exiting tussle off the rocks. A couple of small pollack were the only other fish caught. [slideshow gallery_id=”14″]
This is a beautiful but remote area to fish and the angler really needs to be accompanied and preferably get some local advice as the rocks and fishing areas can be quite dangerous if one was on your own. rj
