Delphi & Erriff River

Made a visit to River Erriff and Delphi Lodge last week. Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) look after the salmon and sea trout fishing on the R. Erriff.

This is a spate river that comes down the Erriff Valley and into Killary Harbour. There was a good flood on the river the day before with a number of good salmon caught but unfortunately very shy when we were there. [slideshow]

However some fish were caught on the day and we did see quite a few stirring. The Aasleagh (Ashleigh) Falls looked great and we saw some fish jumping below the falls.

We then paid a visit to Delphi Lodge. A beautiful place and well worth a visit. We saw plenty of salmon and one of our party managed to hook a nice fish, but unfortunately it wasn’t landed. The area in Finlough where the river comes in from Doolough was crystal clear and we saw a good many salmon moving upriver. rj
